What is your current role? How long have you worked for Loureiro?
My career with Loureiro started in 2014 as an intern going into my senior year at UConn. I became a full-time Engineer after graduation and eventually worked my way up to a Project Manager in our Building and Land Engineering division.
I’m currently managing a variety of projects within our division, from addressing small drainage issues on residential properties to closing the landfill in Plainville. This is a huge project for the municipality, and we are hoping to provide this service to a number of other municipalities within the state.
What is the most interesting / rewarding aspect of your job?
Our team! No matter what project I am working on, I always feel very supported. Whether it’s people within my division, in other divisions within LEA, or even other companies like LCI or LBC, everyone is always willing to jump in and help. It’s very rewarding and enjoyable to be able to work with such great people every day.
I’ve been at Loureiro for 8 years — saying that outloud still seems crazy to me! But I’ve loved every minute. It’s such a wonderful company to work for, and between our ESOP and the open door policy that our executive team has, I always know that my work is valued and my voice is heard. No matter how busy our leadership team may be, I know they are available if I have questions or concerns, which isn’t something a lot of companies have. I really appreciate the team we have here.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my family — my husband, my 3-year old son, Liam, and 11-month old daughter, Ella. We like going to science museums or other fun places around Connecticut, but honestly, we’re perfectly content just hanging out on the floor together with our dog, Cooper, and playing with my son’s trains or blocks for a whole day.
Working out is also something I really enjoy. It is definitely my outlet when I need a physical and mental break in my day. I’ll do a couple of OrangeTheory classes during the week or on the weekend, but it’s also so nice that we have a gym here at the office. I appreciate being able to get a quick workout in before leaving work, so I can spend more time with the kids.
What inspires you the most - professionally, personally, or both?
Definitely my kids! I want to be a role model to them and encourage them to be the best they can be, so I work hard to lead by example and show them they can do whatever they put their minds to.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Just be positive. I try to go into everything I do with a positive attitude and an open mind.
Who is someone you really admire?
My dad. He is caring, hardworking, and always has a great outlook on everything — even in tough situations. And you can always count on him to pick up the phone. He’s always been there for me.
He’s also really into fitness and eating healthy, so he inspires me for my workout goals too! It’s always the running joke that my 60-year old father is in much better shape than my brother and me, but he really is next level!
